all i have to say is...

Jesus spread the wealth – does that make him a socialist?

Mark 10:21 “Jesus looked at him and loved him. ‘One thing you lack,’
he said. ‘Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you
will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.’” (NIV)

I found this on facebook, and thought - exactly!!! It's all I have time for now. I'm so happy, still sort of in denial!! We banged pots and pans last night when Obama reached the 270 electoral votes needed to win. I kept asking everyone over, "Wait, how do they know for sure?! Are those just projections?! I don't believe it!" Then McCain conceded in an incredibly gracious speech, and then Obama spoke later - and all I can say is, Wow. I finally feel some hope for our country for the first time in a long time.

The girls! Elise, Amy, Melody and I, Georgia in back!

Watching the results with anticipation! Heck, we almost look bored! Ha! And there's Stinky over there in the background checking her email!!! This is Georgia, Brian, Amy and Melody. I used to teach with Brian ("Dr BS") at Kingwood College (now Lonestar College). :)

I saw this on Daily Kos, and HAD to shoot a photo of the "Blue TX"... these were obviously early results but I was like, whoa! No way!!! It won't last, better get proof. Ha!

I am not religious, but to my understanding, Jesus didn't support coercive government policies that redistributed the fruit of the populace's labor by force. That is socialism. So, no, that doesn't make Jesus a socialist.

There are a lot of people who give a large portion of their wealth to the less fortunate every day, but do not support collectivist government policies. The difference is, these people who donate to others do so by their own individual prerogative. Their freedom is not lost, and the value of their labor is not taken from them by force from a pointed gun held by the government.

Jesus is not a socialist, Obama's projected tax policies are.

I don't have time to argue with this, but Obama is not socialist. And how are you so sure Jesus was not a socialist? The early Christian communities gave everything they had to the community - read Acts... and there's so much more to say on this, but... I am on deadline! :)

Jesus was dead during the time period that Acts took place, so I don't know how he could have been propagating violent collectivist policies at the time. ;)

Also, those early Christian communities who "gave everything they had to the community," weren't doing so through any sort of violent duress. It may have been based on religious compulsion, but at least the choice to give and share was filtered through the individual's conscience.

When the state forces an individual to give up the right to what her labor yields, and then proceeds to redistribute her production value amongst her 'less fortunate' comrades, that is socialism. It is coercive, and it is tantamount to totalitarianism.

It may be hard to accept the possibility that the President-elect is a socialist. But, if you look past the pejorative context of the word, and instead look at it clinically, it should become very clear that Obama's tax plan is straight up socialist.

You are welcome to believe whatever propaganda you are getting from whoever but I don't have time to debate this ridiculousness. There's nothing "violent" about changing the tax structure so why don't you start working for the policies that you wish to see enstated instead of commenting on people's blogs that don't have anything to do with the actual policies (mine). Frankly I get a bit annoyed at "flapping jaws" - if you want to see change, get out there and do something "non violent" working towards the world you wish to have. For now, I'm thanking my Lord that Obama is my President and will, I hope, lead our nation to a better tomorrow.

Dear chubby fingers,

Myself being very religious and having studied All ancient religions and also having been Anointed by the very oil as described in the original Hebrew text of the Old Testament that God instructed Moses to make to Anoint all his Priests, Kings, and Prophets, for all generations to come, including that of Jesus and even today as the title Christ/Messiah means literally; "covered in Oil/Anointed, and having been Anointed with this Oil and therefore knowing the "Truth" --- Wendee is correct as usual!!! She has a heart of Gold!
Quit trying to make something out of nothing!! You strain a gnat to swallow a camel! You have eyes but can't see, ears but can't hear, and your heart fails to understand.
Don't give up hope though! Everything is possible with "Christ!"
Read the Book!!!

Thanks for the comment Garry. I got a comment from chubby fingers I didn't post because it was just another angry comment and I refuse to publish those! It said I was engaging in "ad hominem" attacks but I don't see how encouraging him to get to work and implement changes he wishes to see is an attack. I don't see how blame does anyone any good...Anyway, thanks for the encouragement! love is where it's at :)
